As the world reopens and things change, how do you want to show up in the midst of that change? Who do you want to be? Summit 2021 offers the tools and skills to help you improve your competencies and mindset, ensuring you are ready for the next step, whatever it looks like.

Those of you familiar with IAAP already know that community is the cornerstone of everything we do. In fact, it’s so vital that it’s one of our strategic goals. This past year has taken a big toll on our community. From lost jobs, reduced hours or MORE hours, balancing work and home, teaching children, and so much more, you need something for you. We came together with the IAAP Foundation to discuss ways we can work together to support our amazing community.

The answer for 2021: FREE SUMMIT! Yes, you read that right. With generous support from the Foundation, we are offering virtual administrative conference free to all paid members. Both organizations want to ensure everyone has access to the professional development you need to keep your skills and competencies up-to-date and ready for that next step; not to mention connection to this incredible community of admins. We hope you’ll spend a few days virtually with us to engage, learn, refresh, renew, and get inspired!

Our Resilience is the power each of us has to withstand external pressures and our Adaptability is the power to bounce back and creatively flex to meet the needs of unique circumstances as they arise. These super powers are already inside of you but they do need to be unlocked, cultivated, and honed in order to be there when you need them most. You’ll learn:

  • How the brain responds to change, the unexpected, and how to navigate your own responses
  • How to assess your situation and scan the environment for insights that reveal “what the moment requires”
  • How to use language intentionally to establish clarity and bind agreement with the people around you to get back on track
  • How to take a proactive approach through self-care and situational awareness to fortify yourself against future shocks

Hi!

I am Cassandra. Early on in my career, when my company was in the aftermath of a $5B acquisition, I almost quit. Fueled by frustration and stress, I found myself on the precipice of walking out of the office and never coming back. Had I done so, I would have become another statistic. Yet another African-American female departed from a STEM-driven industry. Top talent voluntarily resigning during a time of significant organizational shift. Another change victim.

But I didn’t. Instead, I woke up one day and decided to view those feelings as a signal that I was sitting in a moment of opportunity. An opportunity to transform that chemistry, that feeling into something better. To choose every day to do something, say something, behave in some way that would move the needle of my work experience towards a better feeling. I didn’t know it at the time, but I was cultivating a teachable strategy to inspire anyone to become enthusiastic about change, to find their unique power of resilience during turbulent times.

Today, I help organizations disrupt ‘change as usual’. Through a practical and repeatable framework, I show them how they can transform their culture from surviving change to growing through change.
